Project has stalled indefinetely. OpenSplash is an open-source wireless captive portal for FreeBSD aimed for use in the free/semi-free public wireless hotspots. It has been inspired by wicap with style and simplicity in mind, but has grown into something more featureful and secure. OpenSplash serves as a control center between all the necessary software parts such as Apache and FreeRADIUS. It is still in the beta stage and deploying this software assumes the person has an adequate knowledge on particular setup and configuration subjects. It utilizes FreeBSD's ipfirewall (v2), Perl and various Unix built-in utilities. An early version of OpenSplash was known to be deployed at Chester University in England, however we are unaware of the current situation. |
